Ego Over Ethics: Our Experience with Brooke Burgamy

When it comes to real estate, trust is everything. The agent you choose to work with is not just a representative; they are your guide, your advocate, and your partner in one of the most significant financial decisions you'll ever make. Unfortunately, our experience with Brooke Burgamy, a real estate agent at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in Denver, left us questioning her commitment to these values.

Who Is Brooke Burgamy?

Brooke Burgamy is a seasoned real estate agent based in Denver, Colorado, with over 20 years of experience in the industry. She is currently affiliated with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, a prestigious real estate brokerage known for representing some of the most luxurious properties worldwide. According to her profile on Sotheby’s International Realty, Brooke prides herself on “exceeding the expectations of her clients” and has built her career on delivering high-quality service.

Brooke's expertise spans various real estate sectors, including residential, commercial, development, and income property. Her reputation as a top producer in the Denver market, combined with her deep-rooted connections in the community, positions her as a well-known figure in the local real estate scene. On her LinkedIn profile, Brooke highlights her commitment to delivering exceptional results for her clients, drawing from her extensive knowledge of the Denver market and her long-standing residency in the area.

Despite these impressive credentials, our experience with Brooke has led us to question the alignment between her professional image and her actual business practices. While her website and professional profiles paint a picture of a dedicated and ethical agent, our dealings with her revealed a different reality, where ego seemed to take precedence over ethics.

As a long-time Denver resident with recognition as a top producer, one would expect a high level of professionalism and integrity from her services. However, our personal experience paints a different picture.

Our Negative Experience

From the outset, our interactions with Brooke Burgamy were positive. She was charming and seemed sincere and honest. These qualities are crucial in any real estate transaction. However, it turned out to be false advertising in our experience and opinion. Despite her years of experience, Brooke seemed more concerned with closing the deal and taking credit for a sale than doing the right thing.

The situation escalated when we discovered differences between what we agreed to and her actions. She knew what we wanted and despite this went off on her own in what were her best interests, not ours. When we brought these issues to Brooke’s attention, her response was dismissive. It became clear that she was only interested in her interests and had no desire to address our concerns. This lack of transparency and accountability ultimately led us to file a formal complaint with the state licensing board.

Lack of Support from Sotheby’s Denver/Cherry Creek Management

Our frustrations didn’t end with Brooke Burgamy. We reached out to the management team at Sotheby’s Denver / Cherry Creek, hoping for resolution and support. After spending over an hour on the phone explaining our situation, we were promised that the matter would be taken seriously and addressed promptly. Unfortunately, those promises were never fulfilled. We never received a follow-up call or any communication from the management team, leaving us feeling disregarded and unsupported.

A Word of Caution

Real estate transactions are complex and can be stressful, especially when you’re dealing with someone who prioritizes their interests over yours. We urge potential clients to be cautious when considering working with Brooke Burgamy. If you do choose to work with her, ensure that every agreement, discussion, and promise is documented in writing. Don’t rely on verbal assurances.

There are many reputable and trustworthy real estate agents in Denver who are committed to their clients’ best interests. We recommend doing thorough research and choosing someone who will treat your real estate transaction with the importance and respect it deserves.

Why Take the Risk?

Denver is home to many excellent real estate agents who are known for their integrity, professionalism, and commitment to their clients. Given the critical nature of real estate transactions, why take the risk of working with an agent who has shown a disregard for these values? Trust is the foundation of any successful business relationship, and if you can't trust your agent, the entire process becomes fraught with risk.

The Importance of Due Diligence

Before hiring any real estate agent, it's essential to conduct due diligence. Look for reviews, ask for referrals, and most importantly, speak directly with the agent to gauge their commitment to your needs. Your real estate transaction is too important to leave in the hands of someone who doesn’t have your best interests at heart.

In conclusion, our experience with Brooke Burgamy and the Sotheby’s Denver / Cherry Creek office has been deeply disappointing. We hope that by sharing our story, we can help others avoid the same pitfalls and make more informed decisions when choosing a real estate agent. Trust matters—don’t compromise it.

About LIV Sotheby’s International Realty - Denver / Cherry Creek

LIV Sotheby’s International Realty is a prominent real estate brokerage operating under the renowned Sotheby’s International Realty brand. The Denver / Cherry Creek office, where Brooke Burgamy is based, is one of the most respected real estate firms in the region, known for handling some of the most exclusive properties in the Denver area.

Sotheby’s International Realty is synonymous with luxury and high-end service, offering a global network of seasoned professionals who specialize in premier real estate markets. The Denver / Cherry Creek office is no exception, boasting a team of experienced agents who are well-versed in the nuances of the local market. The office serves a wide array of clients, from first-time homebuyers to seasoned investors, and prides itself on providing personalized, high-caliber service tailored to the unique needs of each client.

However, our experience with the management at the Denver / Cherry Creek office fell short of the high standards typically associated with the Sotheby’s brand. Despite the firm’s reputation for exceptional client service, we encountered a lack of follow-through and communication from the office’s leadership when we raised concerns about our dealings with Brooke Burgamy. This experience has led us to caution potential clients about the level of service they might receive, even from a brokerage as prestigious as Sotheby’s.

We’d like to point out that we had previous amazing experiences with Sotheby’s in Aspen, Colorado. Our concerns are limited to the Denver / Cherry Creek office.

The Discrepancy Between Reputation and Reality

Sotheby’s International Realty, particularly the Denver / Cherry Creek office, markets itself as a leader in luxury real estate with a commitment to client satisfaction. However, our experience suggests that this commitment may not be consistently upheld across all agents and transactions. While Brooke Burgamy is marketed as a top-tier agent with extensive experience and a dedication to client service, our interactions with her and the office management have left us questioning whether the reality lives up to the reputation.

This discrepancy between what is promised and what is delivered underscores the importance of conducting thorough research and being vigilant when selecting a real estate agent, even when they are affiliated with a prestigious brand like Sotheby’s.
